It's called Confession, you'll have to go in and tell the Father how long has it been since your last confession. Then you go on telling the father what sins you've commited and you're repentant but you'll like to have the forgiveness of the Lord. After hearing you out, the Father will tell you what prayers to say and how many times. Basically, having a confession is to hope the Lord our God would forgive us so we can be in his good grace when the day comes for us to leave the world. May God Bless you.

+ Reconciliation (or Confession) +
The Catholic Church believes that "Only God forgives sin."
When a penitent person asks God for forgiveness, his (or her) sins are immediately forgiven.
Catholics also believe that when someone sins they not only hurt their relationship with God, they also injure the entire church, the body of Christ.
The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation with a priest ordained in the name Jesus Christ not only reconciles the sinner to God but with the entire church, including you and me.

+ Priest v. Father +
Priest is his vocation or job.
Father is a title.
+ With love in Christ.

It's called confession and people do it in a confessional. A cynic would suggest it's a means by which the priest knows what's happening in his parish.
By the way, I'm not a cynic.

confession or reconciliation. You confess your sins, to God really, but the servant of God, sitting there bestows forgiveness on you which God has said he will always do when we confess. So we tell our sins to another human and God is listening, then The Priest absolves you. It is a wonderful system.

the whole process involves confessing the sins and resolving not to do it again by reconciling, in short confession and reconciliation.
