Many do not use it with respect, much like alcohol. We could legalize about any drug if the bad seeds would just be cautious with it. I do not use or like drugs, but if people can use them and I know I won't be affected by it, I could care less what you all do.

The positive is only transitory.

If you want a real positive, try heroin. It's as positive as you get, especially when you overdose. Unfortunately, it's even more transitory.

Drugs are a waste of time. Most people will go there, just to visit, some will die there, others will not make it back in one piece.

Besides, pot makes you paranoid, apathetic, and consume too many munchies. When you get old like me, I'm telling you those munchies start playing havoc with your blood pressure and arteries.

You may feel that the effects are positive but in fact the drug is addictive and causes memory lose. My ex-husband has already forgotten we have three beautiful daughters together and a grandchild on the way. It hasn't effected his life to much but it certainly has the people which love him most ( his children ). His life held such potential and he threw it all away for a drug that held more potential. He now lives his lives potential without his children or wife do to this drug that has such a positive reaction.

Because cannabis was villified as a drug used by "those damn mexicans and black people" back in the '30s. Go read up on Anslinger's testimony before Congress. Paper and chemical companies paid for legislation to ban cannabis on the basis of flatly racist propaganda and outright lies.
Now that cannabis prohibition has been so ingrained, it seems more profitable for the government to continue the lie that cannabis is far more harmful than alcohol, and that it has no medicinal uses whatsoever.

Because someone has to legally argue the point in the legal system and get it made legal. I don't use marijuana but I think it would reduce drug trafficking and crime if certain drugs were legalized. As it stands now drugs are responsible for alot of corruption, murder and lost American dollars to Central and South American drug lords plus it is creating a bad divide in our society...

Do you want the truth? Money. Do you realize all the money the government makes on busts for marijuana? It's incredible.
Yet, tobacco, a known carcinogen is legal. Go figure.

It is illegal because the government cannot regulate it. People can grow their own and the government cannot impose taxes on it. The government isn't saving you because it's bad. If that were the case then cigarettes and McDonalds would be above pot on the public enemy number one list.

The pot lobby doesn't have enough support yet.

Stoners aren't exactly a reliable voting base.
