I'm very sorry for you and your family's loss.
Several things could happen that might make the streets of America fill up with marches and riots like we saw in the 60's and 70's. Two of them are 1) attacking Iran or 2) increasing the troops in Iraq only to get double the current amount killed and maimed in action. Bush's egomaniacal delusions could require action by Congress. When a President brushes aside his Joint Chiefs of Staff, the majority opinion of even his own party members, and the bulk of the American people to keep hammering away at a failure like Iraq - someone is going to have to pull the plug. The only ones that can do that are Congress. He seems incapable of understanding that a military victory in Iraq is not only not feasible but isn't going to solve anything for the people of Iraq. The factions in Iraq are so divided that just exactly who are we trying to back, and who are we trying to save? Which faction do we support, so that when they are in control they can get on with murdering the opposition without us to interfere? He just can't grasp the fact that this isn't a military problem, but a POLITICAL one, especially for the people of Iraq. Someone needs to pluck the definition of civil war out of the dictionary and staple it to his forehead. Along with the word REALITY.
Enough, I better do what Bush says and just go shopping huh?

Good god, that's terrible news. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I don't know, but whenever somebody does decide to take up arms and march on Washington, I'm with 'em. Just let me know.
The one other rather huge thing people don't seem to understand is that the military is _drawn along class lines_. Obviously, people "volunteer" to join, but do you _ever_ see some random millionaire's son in the military? No way. Doesn't it make you wonder why? It's a fairly plain manifestation of the fact that the military is classed; _the people dying in war are working-class citizens_. And they die to protect our system which protects not working-class but only rich people's kids.
For god's sake, Bush himself never even saw combat. When we see one of Bush's daughters in a uniform, filthy, trying to ferret out weapons somewhere in an Iraqi schoolhouse, then we'll know the American class system has been dismantled.

When your nephew volunteered to serve this country. He took an oath. He swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Unfortunately he also swore to obey the President of the United States. Unfortunately , he and others were used like pawns. Your nephew did not volunteer to defend another country or to nation build.
I am sorry for your loss. It was wrong.

I'm sorry for the loss of your nephew. As a serviceman you have my deepest condolences to you and your family. You don't have to necessarily take up arms and march on Washington. The pen is mightier than the sword. Petition and use your elected officials, believe it or not they are there to serve you the citizen. But as a word to the wise cherish the memories of your nephew and don't let anger overcome you.

Ed, I think what it will take is more Americans like yourself who have lost loved ones who can start forming grass root organizations that can build moment through publicity and determination. The time is very ripe for a march of this sort, I hope it happens. The problem is that Americans have become lazy and uncaring, and socieity is becoming more and more about me, me, me, what can you do for me.
I am sorry for your loss, and I truely hope your wishes come to fruition.

sorry about your nephew
The death of any military man/woman is hard on their families. Loss is never easy and always weighs heavily on ones heart..
Try and remember that your nephew was NO child led astray by others..He chose to serve to protect you and me and and the rest of the citizens in this country..
His decision was Noble and HIS OWN Each of us has a path to choose ..none of us know when our decision to walk a particular path or pursue a particular goal will turn out the way we want...
A choice to join the military today has a greater degree of risk yet we all should be very grateful for those willing to serve despite the risk ...
nothing is free a Free country such as the USA cannot exist without the understanding and ability to repel enemies that seek to take or destroy ...
try and remember that U are not alone as many have buried their loved ones and grieve. give your nephew the gift of understanding and respect ..know that he was truly special and should not be belittled by people trying to blame others for his death.... he and many others have and will continue to step up so that we can sleep safe and have the ability to avoid the death destruction and chaos on our streets....

Look and read the answer SGT gave.
He and you nephew are not Brain washed. They are brave young men who knew what was right and know they are doing the right thing. They are there and have seen it first hand. Trust the trustworthy that have seen and done that hard part. Now you do the easy just back them and not with a knife.

Sorry for your loss.
To abdicate the over throw of the government is a very serious thing, and is a punishable offense. I understand that you are angry, but there are other ways to effect change, besides violence.
Plenty of Americans died under Clintons watch, they just didn't all die in the same place.
You have to understand the long term implications of establishing democratic governments in that area of the middle east. It is vital to the security of the United States, and the world.
I am more angy that two of my neighbors were murdered a few ago, as they returned to their homes. both victims of random murderers, right here on our own soil. The real terrorists are here in our own neighborhoods. Law enforcement calls them gang bangers, car jackers, armed robbers etc, I call them terrorists!
Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Nothing can change what has already taken place, so bear with us as we wait to see who will pick up the pieces (or destroy us all) in the next election.

Once we who serve believe we are dying to line someones pockets, march away. If I died today, I would die fulfilled knowing how many people I have helped. I don't plan on dying though.
