Why is it that half the world is fighting obesity yet the other half is fighting starvation? and why, in the 21st century, is half the world living on under $3 a day? why doesnt the richest governments in this world do something to stop this suffering? what can i do to help? i have just left uni and i want to change the world for the better. where can i, and we, start?

You can start by changing your world. By that I mean the community you live in, your neighborhood, your circle of influence. You have to choose a "cause" that means something to you and that you have a passion for. I have spent nearly 20 years mentoring children because that is where my passion and my talents are. I have been blessed with a good job, so I also give financially and materially to a local homeless shelter for women and children. So that is how I am changing my part of the world.

If starting small isn't where your heart is, and you really are ready to take on the entire world, the Peace Corps is a good place to start. I'm sure there are other organizations, but I'm not aware of any, except perhaps the Sierra Club.

Thank you for caring so much about all of us, and thank you in advance for making a difference.

You can join the Peace Corps, donate to charity and work with your community to improve living conditions. Think globally but act locally.
