Yeah, sometimes. We do it bc we wan to know if you really care about us. or if it will be 1 of the 2 week without sex relationships.

Yes. If not wrong it can equate to the id ( childlike) part of a person reacting to wants. It does not know what is right or wrong.
When you were small and felt unhappy and upset about not getting your way? What did most of us do? We would lie down on the floor and act out our emotions by beating our fists on the floor and kicking wildly.
This playing hard to get can apply to both male or female, it sound out to the other party to try harder - 'if you do, you win my heart for you'. It seems to be an ego thing. We can understand this by thinking the opposite - mutual understanding, give & take.
On one hand we see the person as genuinely interested (but don't know how). What we don't see is inside - the inferior part of the person who play hard to get.
If you play with that person i.e. according to his/her plan, he/she will abide with you. On the other hand, you probably will have to play the game over and over again, for that person seeks pleasure 'to annoy' or to 'gain attention'.
If you try to help that person to his/her senses and if that person response positively, you both then to gain in the relationship. On the other hand, the relatiosnhip might go sour if the other party reacted negatively.
Buy, make or send him/her something small, indicate that you understand his/her intention (if you want the relationship to be stronger). Need not explain in detail, unless he/she positively accept your gesture. Indicate that the gesture is not trying to get him/her. Never use your feelings for such 'game'. By doing so you put yourself in a better position.

Some of them is yes. Usually do by the so called superior guy. Because they have more bargaining power to pick someone to be their partner. I think that's more like the test of love or something like that - for to know how serious or how persistent you are. But, in the end they will show that they have the same feeling like you do.

I don't think I "Play" hard to get, I just AM hard to get! In other words I think I'm a pretty high-maintenance b-itch!!
In this day and age where if things are too hard to get, people can just get it elsewhere...
I think that's an old time idea.
