Burn it. We do that here in Texas. It gives the grass a new beginning. My neighbor did it and it about gave everybody a heart attack, but the purpose was served.

Why do you want to kill grass?

Anyway, you can usually kill it with a toxic substance such as gasoline or natural gas. I know that our azaleas sure don't like where there was once a gas tank!
