Seriously, just wait til you're 18. You will be emancipated and seen as an adult in the law's eyes and really, it will take you longer than 4 months to settle a case like that in court. So, you're better off just waiting. I know it's tough. Me and you are turning 18 at the same time. I feel the pain.

In most, if not all states, you have to be 18 before your parents don't have any legal power over you. You also have to be 18 in most places to lease or rent an apartment and you have to have some type of credit....unless your roommate is going to apply for the apartment on their own and get all the utilities in their name, which I don't believe is a wise decision....I believe you should wait a little while longer...also, since you're still considered a minor by law , if you moved out and your parents did not consent to it, they can report you as a runaway...as a result, your roommate could get in trouble for 'harboring a runaway'...
Just some things to think about...

You really need to think about your future... at home things are free... You could easily get a college education and start your life out on the right foot... this day and time you will need more than a steady income to pay bills, eat, insurance and the list is endless. think about where you are going to be in 10 years.... do you want to work your *** off and live hand to mouth... or do you want a really nice home with the dream job and happy family... go around the higher class neighborhoods in your area and think about living in a place like that or go to a trailor park and think about living in a place like that. then decide what would be the fastest way to get you where you want to be... then remember you are the one who is going to have to live with your decision...
life is fixing to hit you hard girl. I just hope that you make the right decision before you wake up and see that you have kids and stuck in a relationship that is terrible and a dead end job where you work your *** off for nothing... listen to your parents....

I think the age to be a legal adult is different from state to state. But, it sounds like you'll be 18 in no time. I would stay at mom and dad's save a little more money and hit the road when I'm sure to be legal and even a little more financially secure.

You left out what state you live in. So I will have to give just an opinion. If your folks aren't mad at you, scared for you or in any other way really upset at your planning to move, they probably will not do anything. Why not check with a school counsel, a gym teacher, homeroom teacher. Some one in the adult world. That would show that would show you are willing to get information.

First off, why do you want to move out? Are they abusive?
Second, law states that you must present a case of why you need to move out, and then prove you can live on your own. Hope everything goes well no matter the choice.

If you're 18 they can't. I think people also can get emancipated by going to court and showing them you're independent before 18.

Legally yes.... Are you sure you're ready to move out?...maybe they are just concerned.......why don't wait till you turn 18? If you can't, then talk to them or something........tell them that you'll get a place nearby so they don't have to worry........if they still won't let you....then create hell at home till they get tired a throw you out....
