Is that a serious question. Shaq has been injured half the season and Yao is an MVP canidate! Yao Ming is averaging 27 PPG, 9.8 RPG, and 2.3 BPG. A recent editorial from the Washington Times dubbed him the best center in the NBA today. Shaq so far has been averaging 14 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1 BPG. DO THE MATH. Yao is the most feared player right now and is a huge advantage on fantasy teams. So far Yao's accomplishments have been 4-time NBA All-Star; 2-time All-NBA; Third Team: 2004, 2006; TSN NBA Rookie of the Year: 2003; NBA All-Rookie First Team: 2003; NBA Western Conference's Player of the Month: November 2006. Shaq has more than that but he has also played 11 more years.

It depends on what aspects you think a good player has. Yao is more versitile with shooting and freethrow(ing). Yao is a more consitant player now and Shaq is starting to go down and is being left in the corner because Dwayne Wade is just friggin awesome. Shaq is a more dominant Low Post person just because of how the Heat's offense is run. Their offense is more spread out in terms of which people touch the ball and where. The Rocket's offense is mainly dealing with the gurads. The Big men go and set picks for the guards while they make a move. YET, Yao still manages to score more than 20 points a game. So I believe Yao is the better player.

It should be "People who DON'T watch the 2006-2007 season???" Or people who Havn't.

Yao Ming has been improving ever since his debut in 2002-2003, hes been making killer post moves and flashy dunks despite his monsterous height and scrony phsyique. But one can't doubt that Shaq is an overall better basketball player than Yao. First of all, Shaq has more experience. Secondly, Shaq has power and strength to shove any player out of the way. Did i mention that he has biceps the size of melons? And finaly Shaq has an *** the size of my house to push defenders into the court leaving them face planted onto the ground. Yao is still young and has time to improve, we can only anticipate what Yao will bring into the NBA during this 2006-2007 season.

First I wanna say that I'm a huge Shaq fan. But the truth is Shaq is near the end of his career. He misses like 20+ games the past couple of years....so at this point in time I do think Yao is the next generation of "True Centers". But when Shaq was in his prime theres no way Yao would be able to stop him.

Yup in fact he has been better than Shaq 4 a while now

Rememeber Yao was the starting center 4 the West when Shaq was still in the West

If both players were in their prime, it would be hard to tell..especially seeing that I don't think Yao has hit his prime yet. Based on the past, you would have to give the edge to Shaq. However, only looking at this season, I would have to say that Yao by far surpasses the output of Shaq. Anybody that says they would take Shaq over Yao this year is crazy. Yao has been phenomenal this year.

Of course, right now Yao Ming is dominating the entire NBA and doing so while playing in the much tougher Western Conference. Shaq cannot even get on the court and play 10 minutes without another nagging injury flaring back up. Allthough will be known as one of the all-time greats, it is time for him to hang it up as he is no longer effective at this point in his career.

Yao is getting better, despite the fact that he is an outsider. Shaq and Yao had their own moments too, but Yao is better than sahq right now, shaq is only averaging 14 ppg, 7.7 rpg and less than one assist per game. Yao is 27ppg,9.8g and 2.2g, way better than shaq. But remember, sahq is getting old and Yao s still a young player so he can surprise us all.

Yes, Yao is now becoming not a good, but dominant player. He is a consistant scoreer, rebounder and blocker. He is truly the best center in the NBA now. Shaq has regressed over the years and nagging injurys have become a consistant problem. Plus, Shaq is not even the best player on his team(D-Wade) and Yao is. ( he is better than T-mac.)
