I am replacing a water pump on a car and broken a bolt in the process. I bought a drill and tap and the screwlike thing to pull out the broken bolt... but there's a problem no room for the drill to fit. any ideas?

See if you can have someone with a welder come over. Have them weld a bolt to the bolt that is broken. Then you can use the added bolt to extract the broken one. It has happend to me, and this is the process I tried. It worked. Good Luck, and happy motoring.
You may have to remove the radiator and the shroud to gt the extra room.

I just had that problem myself a few weeks ago. I tried a right angle attachment for a drill (my actual right angle drill was still too long), but even that was tough to fit. So I have two suggestions for you. First, try the attachment using a very narrow bit - and cut the back end off the bit so it's shorter. If that doesn't work to get the extractor in, you could attach a drill chuck to an air ratchet, because it's shorter yet. That's what I had to do, although I broke the air ratchet in the end.
Now, provided you have a small pilot hole drilled into the broken bolt, start threading the remover into it by hand, and then use vise grips and a hammer to spin it out.

i own a shop,and if there's anything you can remove to get the drill in to it that will help,,you can also use an angle adapter to put on the drill this will make it shorter,,i have had to do this a few times before,other wise you may have to lift the engine up on it,,these can be hard to get out sometimes,,this is in an area you don't want to apply heat to,so i don't recommend heating it up,,good luck with it,hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

depends on the position of the engine. If the front of the engine face the tire, try to remove the tire and get at it that way. Or if the front of the engine faces the front of the car first try removing the radiator, if that is not enough then try to remove the grill as well. And if that don't work... sounds like your either pulling the engine or going to the shop.

How about one of those right angle drills. We found them last year, after we got done remodeling the kitchen. It would have been nice to find them a few weeks earlier.
THey had them at Home Depot

Try a right angle drill, you can rent one, stiill not enough room? try to use a punch, and catch a piece of the bolt above the surface, and knock it counter clockwise to loosen.

can you get you hands on a offset drill,its a drill that works side ways,also can you get a pair of vise grips on it.
