Waylon Jennings is correct... he was also the guy who lost the coin toss with Ritchie Valens to be flown to the next city they were scheduled to perform in the movie "La Bamba".
In reality he lost the coin toss to the Big Bopper aka. J.P. Richardson.
He died in 2002 at the age of 65 of complications due to diabetes. Check-out the link below.
