I need examples that are obvious, atleast to those who know passive aggressive behavior.

I guess the best examples I have seen are men who get all emotionally manipulating to control womens behaviour...

for example I had a bf who would say how worried he was that I spent so much time on the net. He felt that all commuications are connections by spirit and as spirituality and sexuality are so closely linked he felt it was not wise for me to communicate with men on the Internet as they would drain me spirituality......

I heard lots of

"If your love for me is real you would not look for such connections from others.."

"Spiritual maturity is being spiritually self-sufficient"

"Why do you need to talk to men?"

isolation is the number one tool for abusive manipulators...

it was a way to control my behaviour with long winded excuses...

I curbed my internet behaviour believing that this rule for our relationship was as relevant to him as to me.... after all he made the rule so of course he would be following it wouldnt he??

I had great pleasure in throwing his butt out of my house forever when I discovered he had quite openly been discussing sexual things with women.....

I have not laid eyes on him since nor would I want to.... darn.. suddenly I hope he reads this and knows it is him I am talking about...

Passive-aggressive is keeping your aggression and/or anger inside instead of acting on it. A person who is actively aggressive will not hesitate to act on it. An example would be if someone promised to bring some milk home on the way home from work but NEVER seems to remember to do it. There is usually an underlying reason for this; they are reacting to something much deeper than not wanting to buy milk. Am I a professional? NO WAY! But I have studied it in college and know the definition. But I DO suggest you look it up in a good psychology book and/or on the internet. And never be embarrassed to ask about things, cause you'll never know unless ya ask! :)

Passive-aggressive behaviour refers to passive, sometimes obstructionist resistance to authoritative instructions in interpersonal or occupational situations. It can manifest itself as resentment, stubbornness, procrastination, sullenness, or intentional failure at doing requested tasks. For example, people who are passive-aggressive might take so long to get ready for a party they do not wish to attend that the party is nearly over by the time they arrive.

Example of passive-aggressive behavior: Your boss rudely demands that you get him a cup of coffee NOW. You smile kindly and say, "Yes, sir." So...you end up getting him a cup of coffee that includes a "little present" from you.

You showed passiveness by taking crap from your boss and getting him coffee. But, you also showed aggressiveness by spitting (or doing something else...) in your boss' coffee.

A person who will not deal with conflict directly but will go behind another person and steal or break their things, or gossip about that person or belittle them in front of others. They let things pass, then they find a way to even the score. The person will not use skills to confront a person they are having a problem with. I had a boss who was angry at his wife, and he would "get back at her" by having lunch dates with other women. After therapy, by his own admission he said this is what he was doing. Best of luck to you!

a husband and wife are getting their house painted. the husband wants a room to be painted light blue, but the woman wants lavender. the husband insists on blue and the wife says nothing. but the next day, she goes to the paint store, buys some lavender paint, and paints the room herself. she is passive because she is not putting up a fight over the paint color, but she is aggressive because she is getting what she wants. hope this helps.

Two boys, Jimmy and Joe, go to the play ground first thing every morning. They are always the first ones to the swings, and Jimmy always gets the best one. But everyday Jimmy teases Joe and calls him names, but Joe doesn't SEEM to mind because he always seems to let it go, day after day. Well, really Joe doesn't like it at all, but he's not the type to lose his temper. Oneday, when it's really cold outside and nobody is at the playground, Joe goes by himself to the playground and loosens the seat of Jimmy's favorite swing. The next day when they go back to the plyground Jimmy rushes to his favorite swing while Joe watches. Just as Jimmy swings really high in the air the seat comes loose. Jimmy falls to the ground and breaks his arm.....Joe smiles on the inside because he has had his revenge.
