...........are your Christmas plans? Do you have a special family tradition that no one has? What is it?

We do most of the "Christmas" stuff on the 24th and 'Santa' usually brings one or two of the major gifts. Santa isn't a big part of our holiday. My 3 year old thinks we should start a new tradition of baking a birthday cake and singing Happy Birthday to the Baby Jesus.... I haven't decided one way or the other on that yet....

I think that's a great idea!! My Grandmother always baked her special chocolate cake for Christmas dinner. I remember at a very young age asking her why she baked a cake for Christmas (after all we had cookies, pies, and candy) and she told me that it was Jesus' birthday cake. My Grandma has been gone for over 20 years as has my Mom but, to this day we have a big 2-layer chocolate cake for Christmas dinner-Jesus' birthday cake.

On Christmas eve night we go to my husband's family in the backwoods of Louisiana. Pretty crazy people that live like they do in the Waterboy. Then we go to the banks of the Mississippi River and look at the bonfire displays. People build large bonfires that are shaped like things, cabins, planes, boats, ect. They are all about 6 ft tall, then they light them up to guide Papa Noel (the Cajun Santa) on his journey. Then it's back home to wait for Santa. Wake up Christmas morning and see what Santa brought and exchange presents from us to the kids and what my husband and I got each other. Then we do my family where we play White Elephant instead of getting each other gifts. It's really fun!

Merry Christmas to you too, and I think the birthday cake to Baby Jesus is an excellant idea!

I'm going to relax and celebrate with my best friend tomorrow. Then it's the whole extended family gathering on Saturday. Then spending time at home with my folks on Sunday and Monday.

On Christmas, my family and I will sit around the fireplace and drink lots of eggnog while my mom and I sing Christmas songs in both English and Japanese. Then we all open the presents in our stockings. My mom has always put one piece of jewelry and a CD in my stocking. That's kind of a tradition in itself.

That's only a few of our traditions. Since I was a little kid, we've done the same things on Christmas. I love spending time with my friends and family over the holidays! It's always a lot of laughs.

Our special family tradition is one that we started when our oldest was nearly two. On Christmas morning he got into the sugar cookies that we had baked as Christmas goodies for our neighbors.

So, every year we bake sugar cookies on Christmas eve and have them for breakfast on Christmas morning. it goes well with the tradition that my husband and I both grew up with (oddly enough) of fresh fruit in our stockings for breakfast. So we usually have cookies and milk, apples and oranges. The kids think it's wonderful fun, and I love that I'm not making a huge breakfast while cleaning all the wrappers up from the presents!

I don't know if it is original or not, but when I was a kid 'Santa' would always set the table for breakfast, and leave those little mini boxes of cereal, usually our favorite kind, in our stockings, and then I have kind of carried that over to my own kids over the years.

I am going to my parents around the corner for dinner and games. My kids are coming back from their dads in the afternoon and then after dinner they will get to open their presents at my house. They get 2 Christmases, lucky them. I always wanted to have more presents and stuff. I think I will take a nap on my dad's couch while he is watching the new John Wayne dvd he got from my mom...I know this bc I was with her when she got it for him.

Merry Christmas to you, too. My holiday plans are to spend the holiday with my parents. I'm not sure if anyone else has the traditions that my family has. So here they are:
No one opens present til everyone eats breakfast
My mom hands out the presents, one by one,and no one opens up until everyone has one, and read the tag aloud, then we could open that one, and she hands out another one, and it goes on until all the presents are done.

me, my uncles, and my cousins might play paintball.
i think it's a great idea.

my fantasy plan is to ask a girl out, spend time with her, and fall in love for the holidays.
wouldn't that be something? :D

i'll have to attend as many parties as possible.
wish me luck!

i don't have any family traditions, besides maybe having dinner with them. nothing special about that. :)

Merry Christmas, everybody....

We buy each other gifts, wrap them up in colourful paper and bows, and put them under a tree in the corner of our living-room called a "Christmas tree".

We're hoping this catches on.
