Does Sears actually have a customer service department and do the even care?

Well, I went to the Sears website at http://www.sears.com and found out that Sears most definitely does have a customer service. Go to http://www.sears.com/sr/misc/sears/custserv/custserv_index.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=SEARS and you will see that they have several different types of customer service.

Circuit City is in the news right now. They are firing 3400 workers who make too much money and replacing them with new workers who make less. The implication is that service/experience/ knowledge doesn't matter, only price. Sears is basically a financial hedge fund posing as a retailer. (ever since the buyout and K-Mart merger). Every time I go into a Sears, the place is almost deserted, I don't think it can survive as a retailer. I go into Sears and compare prices to other retailers and find that Sears is almost always higher. One big mistake on an investment and the company could be in big trouble. Just my opinion. I applaud you on providing excellent service. Most people have become so desensitized to horrible service that its all they expect from retailers these days.

Sears for some reason has a thing where if you call Kenmore you are actually calling Sears for help. Even if you look it up online you will get a number to the Sears closest to your addess. I think Kenmore is actually just another division of Sears now.

Sears definately does have a customer service department, but the existance of the department alone does not necessarily mean that they have customer service.

NO! They have a corporate office but no customer service other than the poor cashiers and floor people. Since Sears was bought out by K-Mart customer service has fallen by the wayside.
