Sounds a little like me every 6 months or so. I know that for me personally I just need to fill a void in my life with a new passion/dream and have trouble finding one. I keep thinking I do, but then it burns out about every 6 months. I basically find something I think I wanna do, watch Rocky on a Saturday morning and make myself go out for a run to get the adrenaline going and then get started on whatever "new thing" I decide to do.

Well, after 20+ years as a mental health practitioner, now retired, I can tell you that I have found that the three "systems" of human operation or human behavior (mental, spiritual, behavioral) can be made to override one another at any point in time, such that when one's emotions are down, one's cognitive functioning can still be intact enough to guide the person through daily functioning quite well, and that the same can be true of one's spiritual strength being made to override either of the other two, or both at the same time if necessary, for a period of time. As Dr. M. Scott Peck, M.D. said in his landmark bestseller book "The Road Less Travelled" (1978) one can "bracket" one's priorities, behaviors, etc., in such a manner as to be able to take care of one aspect of a person's life while temporarily setting the other issues aside for a period of time. All of this is to say that just because your "confidence and motivation level(s) has declined", your behavioral and cognitive functioning are still at a high enough level that you can pursue activities that will increase your confidence and motivation, and therefore your general mood. I think the new term "multi-tasking" reflects more deeply what the person can do, more than just what external tasks that one can do, but including internal or psychological tasks one can do, such as re-stabilizing one's emotions and thoughts and behaviors. Realize this "tri-partite" aspect of the human functioning, and you can easily get beyond temporary problems with your motivation and confidence level. I hope you pursue this perspective and get yourself "back in order". I'm fully aware of how a low confidence level can "mess one's mind up", and one sure feels better when they're "on an even keel". God Bless you.

The thing is most peoples confidence is based on their false ego. (identification with this body mind and so called intelligence)We are not this body,ie; race, color, nationality, religion, senses, job, etc. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul. We have to reconnect to get all of our need fulfilled. This world is called Maya(illusion) and is temporary and full of misery. If one has no motivation it is because they do not know how to direct their activities. I use to feel the way you say until I found the Process of self realization according to the Vedic knowledge. Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedant Prabhupada. It is full of knowledge which can help one in every day life how to be fully motivated in the highest way and have real confidence in our real self. go to krishnaculture. for complete details and become enlivened (tried and true)

When i feel that way i know its time for some type of change. i start out small and go shopping or get my hair done and if that doesnt work i know its more serious and find a new job or more friends or hobbies. hanging out with different crowds may help motivate you to do something more fun or interesting.

Maybe it is time to take an on line depression quiz and see if you need to speak with your doctor about treatment. It is the most common complaint next to the common cold. Best of luck to you!!
