You probably won't be able to. Most, if not all, mail servers don't retain copies of messages once they're deleted. If you know who they were sent from or to, it's possible that the sender or recipient may have a copy.

Probably not, were the emails sent to an email address that you access online only or that you access from your computer? If they were from you computer they might still be in the recycle bin if you haven't deleted them from there, if it was online then your trash might be saved for a few days but since you say they were old then there probably is no chance.
