If you want to make a 30% profit, the magic number you want to make is (1.30) times the price you paid.

The trick is to multiply the number formed by "one point percent"; that is, the digits involved in your percent (in this case, 30) go after the 1 in the decimal. If you wanted a 20% profit, you'd multiply by 1.20, and if you wanted a 1% profit, you would multiply by 1.01. You would treat ALL single digit percents as two digits, and would add a leading 0.

All you have to do is multiply your price by 1.30.

(1.30)(2.75) = 3.575

However, since we really only calculate money to two decimal places, you would round that up to 3.58 to take full advantage of the 30% profit.

Therefore you need to sell your item at $3.58 to make a 30% profit.

You can buy some clay with the $2.75 and make a Jesus doll. Cut 70% of it off and you have a 30% "Prophet". You could do the same with any other "Prophet" doll.

cost = $ 2.75

profit % = 30

Selling Price = 2.75 * (130/100)

= 2.75 * 1.3

= $ 3.575
