Start up is slowing down. Could there be too much trying to run. Can I shut some down?

Here's some quick places to look. I'm assuming that you're using a version of Windows like XP. If not, please post more details. Meanwhile, click START, RUN and type msconfig and hit ENTER. This will give you a list of startup items. Be sure to take note of your changes, or better yet, create a Restore point. To see what's running, hit CTL-ALT-DELETE once to see the list. Chances are, several of the icons next to the time in your lower right screen, can be eliminated. All I have in my system tray is the Antivirus (DON'T USE NORTON), the firewall (DON'T USE NORTON), my printer, and my speaker icon. I have 99% of my resources available on boot.

Go to "Start", "Run", then type in "msconfig", click on the start up tab and see what programs are running when your PC starts up. Uncheck the ones you don't want to run.....Make sure that you uncheck the right ones, this could be tricky, you might uncheck a program that you need at start up.

You can always write down those programs that start up and ask an IT expert too to be safe.

Start --> Run --> Type in msconfig --> OK --> Click on the Start up tab

uncheck anything you don't want to start upon start up

You can do ctrl+alt+delete, but if you want to keep them from starting up every time do what I said. If you do ctrl+alt+delete, you will have to do it every time your computer starts up.
