As opposed to a hard drive, yes. The iPod nano and shuffle lines use flash memory for storage. The regular iPods (the video iPod and the previous generations of iPod) and the obsolete iPod mini use hard drives.

Yes, it is 100% Flash Based MP3 player, how else would they get it so small? Hard Drive memory is so much larger. So again, Yes it is Flash Drive Based.
