Sunrise.
There was one morning on a camping trip when I couldn't sleep. Everyone else was sound asleep. I felt alone & cold & it felt like it would be an eternity until morning. I got sick of lying in my sleeping bag listening to people snore & I went out & sat on the dock by the lake. As the sun came up a few hours later, this feeling came over me. I'm not alone. I'm never alone. God is there. He's in the trees. In the water, in the fragments of sunlight glistening on the lake. In the fish that jumped up & startled me a few feet away. In the birds chirping in the distance. In the sunlight so warm & brilliant it stung my eyes. I looked around. I seemed to be the only one awake. The only one having this realization. I was alone & yet had never felt less alone. I felt connected to the earth & to God. It really is a beautiful world. It really is going to be ok.
The sun was breathtaking. Like diamonds scattered on the dark blue water. Like a warm hug. It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. It was like heaven.
(But aside from that, camping sucks! I love nature, but not to sleep in. I like a warm bed & good plumbing. Ha ha)
I saw the sunrise in Algonquin over Smoke Lake many years later. With the mist rising it was ethereal. Magical. I snapped dozens of pictures. It looked like a painting & I did a large painting of it based on one of my photos. Shades of blue & grey with majestic pine trees by the lake. The haunting call of the loon in the distance...Ironically I love watching the sunrise but when I'm not out in the woods I never see it. I hate waking up in the morning. When it's to go to work, it just fills me with dread. Lately it's so dark that I don't even see the sun. I work 12 hour days going out & coming home in darkness. It's pretty bleak. I'm always happier when I'm closer to nature. It helps when I don't have to go to work either! Work is the most hellish thing on earth (in my job anyway)!
Nature, art, music, love -- all things beautiful are divine. They are our glimpses on heaven on earth. We must cherish and protect them.

The most heavenly thing on earth is knowing that you are not the only person who is here. No loneliness. And knowing that all these differant people all have their own views on what that heavenly thing is to them and knowing that not one person can take that away from them. Everyone will think of their own heavenly thing and the guy/girl next to you can't change what you thing is the MOST heavenly thing to them.

imagination. though i don't know if it can be called 'on earth', because its in our mind, but as mind is on earth, i mean human bodies are on earth, so.. well, you get it na? its getting confusing to explain.
imagination because there are so many things on earth which give heavenly feeling and i can combine them and experince them at the same time and place.

it's not a thing..but, whenever i take a little child into my arms, or even just touch the little, perfect hands or kiss the angelic face..that's heavenly.
