No. Everyone is born with an innate *need* to be loved. Babies will die if they do not receive it, especially through touch. Medical fact. Adults that do not receive enough of love are often depressed & very lonely.
Wanting to be loved is essential & it is a wonderful thing to find that need being met. Once the love begins flowing back & forth, people are much healthier & happier.

Haven't read the book, but I can't see why wanting to be loved would be selfish (unless, of course, you're a Buddhist, in which all wanting is a negative).

It's a basic human need, to want to be "heard" and understood at ones own level and loved in spite of what that might look like.

No, I do not consider wanting to be loved 'selfish.' If wanting to be loved IS 'selfish', then I am. It is a God-given right to be loved, and if I can be loved, then I will be....just as I myself, do and have possession of love for God, myself, and others.

No it isn't selfish. God made us that way. You need to love others in return which can also satisfy wanting to be loved.

It's not selfish if you're giving love too. That's the big one: share it!
