is it just the draft, or is it more than that?

my personal theory is that the national attention span is just so low that we lose interest in everything after a few years no matter what it is.

The lack of the draft and the media censorship. Remember, bodies were being burned alive on TV on a nightly basis during the Vietnam war. The Pentagon learned their lesson there. Out of sight, out of mind.

I think people are not as passionate as back in the 60s-70s.

because it was and now is a different time, different kind of people, and our view and way of thinking, all of us change as time change us all, any where in the world.

Time changes all things including us.
