The most common bit rate is 128kbs. and at taht you will store about 450-500 songs on it.
But some people use a bit rate of 64kbs and at that you will store around 900-1000 songs on it
And some prefer to use a higher bit rate ofr 192kbs and at that you will fit around 200-300 songs on it
If you do not know the bit rate of your music.. you can safely assume that you have 128kbs and that you will get at least 400 songs on it.

It depends completely on the length of the songs and the quality of your mp3's. A rough estimate is 1 MB per minute of audio, though. So that would mean you could fit roughly 2000 minutes of audio, or about 600 3-4 minute songs.
