Until the Reformation in the 1500s and 1600s, it was a sin for a Christian to charge interest on a loan. This had a serious drawback in that without financial capital little happens, so the majority Christians turned to the Jews to be bankers because the Jews had no such restrictions.

When the local Christians found that they owed the Jewish bankers more than they wanted to have to pay, instant pogrom. "Kill the Jews!" and suddenly you don't owe the banker any money because he is dead.

It was easy to turn on the Jews because they were different from the Christians, and everybody knew who the Jews were (they were the people who never showed up for the mandatory Mass in most towns and cities). Many people have a need to feel superior to someone else, and when that is taken to the group level it becomes racial or religious bigotry.

Hatred of Jews in the Christian nations of Europe has a history of well over a thousand years. Anti-Semitism is particularly alive and well today in Russia and France. When the Christians took over Spain in 1492, those Jews who could escape went into the Arab lands where they were welcomed.

The Arab-Jewish fight actually dates only to the late 1890s and early 1900s. It is correct that it was connected with the Zionist movement, but it was not the movement itself, nor the return of Jews to Palestine, that was the issue. As with most "religious" conflict, the root problem is economic. Palestine is the dividine line between Levantine and Peninsular Arabs. Peninsular Arabs (they don't like being called Bedouins for some reason) are fatalists, Levantine Arabs somewhat less so. "Insh'allah" means "If God so wills." When the Arabs owned land in the desert, they gladly sold it to Jews because it could produce crops only "Insh'allah." The Jews, significantly less fatalist in nature, agreed that the land will produce crops only if God wills it AND if I dig an irrigation ditch AND if I weed the plot AND if I add fertilizers AND ........ you get the idea. Land that the Arabs thought was worthless was sold to the Jews, who made the desert bloom. Suddenly, you have a group of haves and have-nots. Arabs are the have-nots. This is an economic, not a religious division.

By the way, the same applies in Northern Ireland where the Protestants are the "haves" and the Catholics the "have-nots." Iraq? No religious division at all. The Sunnis are the "haves" and the Shiites the "have-nots."

Why do so many nations hate the Jewish people? As with so much else in life, the answer is in the money.

Only during world war 2 was Germany hating on the Jews, because Hitler got rejected at a educational institution by Jews, i think, but currently Arabs hate the Jews because they said that they took their land in the 1970s. they believe the land they are in is the Promised Land, in the Old testament, and the Arabs want the land back. They terrorize Israel to give up the land. Palestinians in Israel also do not have the rights that Jewish people have, they don't even have a Constitution. Their religion clashes a bit also. Arabs want the land they gotten back from the Jews, maybe also for religious belief or because they think this was the land that they have gotten though years of hard work.

There is a long history of Jew-hating in Europe. It goes back to the middle ages at least. I know one reason is that the tax collectors during feudal days were Jewish. Aristocracy hired them because they were mostly merchants and knew about handling money. The poor who were visited by the tax collectors obviously hated them for very obvious reasons.

I wonder what it actually is about this group of people that has inspired such dislike and distrust throughout centuries in Europe. I believe if this can be figured out, the hatred can die down.

Arabs and Muslims do not have a long history of Jew-hatred. It began in earnest during the last century with the advent of Zionism. If you read about the history of the Iberian peninsula, you will clearly see that Jews were highly respected in Al Andaluz (Muslim Spain) then tortured and killed along with their Muslim compatriots after 1492 by the Holy Roman Empire.

For one thing, we're a convenient scapegoat.

We're a minority and have a history of people hating us. Something to do with the Old and New Testaments meant that Jews could be moneylenders but Christians couldn't. Thus the Jews ended up with a lot of money. Money means power. People who don't have power resent those who do, so they struck back out at the Jews.

But like I said, mostly we're a minority.

The only nations that hate Jews today are mostly Arab. Germany does not; I presume a lot of people think Germany does.
Arab hatred comes from about 50 years of learning to hate by lies and propaganda put out by their government. It is the same reason these people hate America and the UK.
