First and foremost, the holidays are stressful, stress leads to anger. People ought to slow down and not have giant expectations. Christmas for Christians is the birthday of Christ-if we follow Jesus's teachings Christmas would be a simple, humble, and loving time-but we are a greedy nation and have left that humbleness in the dust.
Other religions would follow suit as far as fellowship and love for this time of year.
While diversity of religions is a great part of our culture (freedom to believe) this can also set up major differences and aguments-which is not good either; it causes people to feel threatened about their own traditions and beliefs.
The solution must come from within a person; to except things for what they are, understand fellowship amongst a diverse population, and be everything that wise people before us established-the importance of peace, love, and charity.

I don't think people hate so much during the holiday season. Some people are frustrated that they can't do as much as they'd like and some people are alone and feel more lonely at this time.

People only hate what they fear..........Once they learn about it, the fear leaves and there is no hate. The spirit of all people is Love. Some just forget that and move away too far at times........

The question has a false premise. Sure, you meet a few stressed-out, obnoxious people while out shopping, and maybe tensions are high within folks' families sometimes due to all of the responsibilities and planning that goes into Christmas. But that's not most people, and it doesn't translate into "hating," which is a strong word.

Most people enjoy the holidays.

Probably because things are generally more stressful for everyone during the holidays - it's the nature of the season.

probably because they are unhappy in the first place. and the stress of the holidays, and other people's happiness just makes them feel worse this time of year.
