Yes. It is a fact that if you lose weight you will become slim and attractive. Following that change, a man is much more likely to want to have sex with you. As a result, you are more likely to conceive.

Being at a healthy weight before conceiving would be better for you even if it doesn't help you conceive. Since you will put weight on during pregnancy, if you are already overweight you are at an increased risk of gestational diabities. Not to mention that child birth is like a sporting event and the better condition your body is in, the easier it will be for you. It may help you conceive as your husband might find a slimmer wife irresistable!

Yes, being obese can hinder your attempts at conceiving. Fat stores extra estrogen and this can wreak havoc on your body. It can cause PCOS, a disease that can stop ovulation and adversely effect egg quality.

Being just overweight is usually less detrimental than being obese. In fact, I read a study recently that the group of women who have the easiest time conceiving have a few extra pounds on them (mildly overweight). Women who are underweight may have lower conception rates, too.

For many obese women, weight loss can jumpstart fertility. I personally know two women who were obese (both about 5'8" and 275 lbs.). They had fertility problems until the lost weight, then they got pregnant without even trying! One lost 35 lbs and the other lost 100lbs.

That said, there are many overweight and obese women who have kids. I think it just depends on how sensitive your body is to the weight you are carrying.

Good luck!

IT would depend on how overweight you are. Grossly overweight women sometimes don't ovulate and this can be a cause of not conceiving...no egg...no chance. I know of some women who have lost weight and conceived right away. But if you are a little over weight...maybe by 4-#. it shouldn't matter.

Yes it would. Nature has it's checks and balances. By being overweight, should you get pregnant, you run a higher risk for gestational diabetes, pre and eclampsia (high blood pressure during pregnancy), miscarriage, and birth defects within the fetus. Getting to a healthy weight lowers the risk, makes your cycles more regular, and of course... can make getting pregnant more interesting. (wink).

Of course, you should talk to your regular doctor prior to starting any weight loss regimen, so he/she can help you do it in a healthy way. And speak to your ob/gyn about your concerns. He/she can work with your MD to help you achieve your goal. Good luck!

Hmmm I dont know....I know being fit helps you during pregnancy though, with posture and such because you already have the muscle tone. And also being fit helps you feel better.
Being fit defiately ups your health, so maybe you should shart working out just for the benifit of working out. It might help you get pregnant, so who knows?
I would at least try to get fit before you fall pregnant.

I don't know. I don't have kids we are trying. I feel like every dr we go to i tell them that i would rather lose the weight i gained going off bc pills that have a kid. They tell me that I need to try now, not wait and that I will lose what i need to when i do get preg. that does not make sense to me. but maybe that is just me and what i am going through. good luck!!

if you are overweight losing some will definitely help. If you are not over weight losing too much can actually stop you from ovulating.

As long as you are losing weight healthily... unhealthy dieting can cause you to stop ovulating and so can overworking yourself
