from what I have seen, Taks testing, the system, seems very flawed. I live in texas and, live with, around and, work with a bunch of High School graduates, who can barely spell their own name and, dont even ask them to count anything. the way it seems to work is, the teacher either passes a set percentage of students, regardless of their progress or, take a paycut (like they have a lot to cut from) and, start looking for another job. is there any way to get rid of this stupidity before We doom another generation of illetirate graduates ? maybe they could take a step back and, help the last generation with what they were cheated out of.

I also have to take the taks test. Our time spent going over topics that should have been learned in middle school, is not teaching us any worthwhile or enriching material, but merely the taks-curriculum is driven by the objectives that, however less difficult, are required to be taught and emphasized in classes and even mandated after-school tutorials. My school has full weeks appropriated towards taks-preparation; I would rather my school try less to prepare us for a test and more prepare us for college and life.

I totally agree. I think it is completely unfair that teachers salaries should depend on test scores. If this stress was taken off of the teachers, they might be able to teach something other than the test! I don't attend public school, but I have plenty of friends that do, and I feel sorry for not only them but the teachers because of the disadvantage they are put at.
