South, into the Gulf Of Mexico. All rivers empty into the ocean at some point, and always flow to lower altitudes. But there was one time that there was a massive earthquake in Missouri that disrupted the riverbed and moved tons of dirt and other debris, blocking the flow and reversing it to the north.

Most rivers flow from north to south, there are some exceptions. The reason is that places to the north genarally higher elevation and then southorn areas have a lower elevation. So water flows from higher places to lower places because of gravity.
