You can set the external as the primary monitor so it looks just like the laptop screen would. It takes lots of tinkering with the settings. I'm using a 19 inch external flat scrren with my laptop right now. Left click on the desktop, click on Properties, click on Settings, click on Advanced and click on the Display tab. If yours is like mine its shows a Monitor box and a Panel box with little "1"s and "2"s at the bottom. Experiment clicking on the 1's and 2's then Ok until you get what you want. I understand its also possible to have both monitors display the same thing but may take software to do. Good luck!

You have a separate video ouput for that second monitor. In order to connect a third monitor you will need a third output. This is difficult on a laptop, but on a desktop you could install a video card explicitly made for this purpose.
If you just try splitting your second video output, you will just get duplicate images if it works. It is not a good idea anyway because it could overload the driver on the second port and damage it.

You need to get the spliter adaptor. It has the one main that connects to the source and the rest thatll connect to monitors or tv.
