Average day will get close to 60 and nights will be chilly or down right cold near 40.

It is sunny 90% of the year in Vegas, so most likely the weather will be clear. However, it did snow one New Years in Vegas so anything can happen.

Im not sure where you live...but the weather in Vegas around Jan 1 would be about like October in much of the northern part of the country.

According to http://www.lasvegasweather.us the normal high is 56 and the low is 35. There's a small chance of rain in Vegas in January, and a microscopic chance of snow. If there's no wind and it's sunny the weather can be quite pleasant, but if there's wind and clouds it can feel pretty cold. Don't bother bringing shorts or a bathing suit.
