Deity = God
Divinity = God-like

Some speak of the "divinity" of Jesus .... that He was "God-like" or suitable for (the realm of) the gods. Rather like you might say your wife's cooking is "divine", suitable for the gods. [Maybe that is why she burns the meals?]

To speak of the "deity" of Jesus is to affirm that He was and is God Incarnate; Emmanuel - God with us. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
===========================
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.

Born a king on Bethlehem's plain,
Gold I bring to crown Him again,
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign.

Frankincense to offer have I.
Incense owns a Deity nigh.
Prayer and praising all men raising,
Worship Him, God on high.

Myrrh is mine: Its bitter perfume
Breaths a life of gathering gloom.
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.

Glorious now behold Him arise,
King and God and Sacrifice.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Sounds through the earth and skies.

From the Latin word "deo" meaning a god. "deity" doesn't necessary mean the Christian or god of Islam, but any god.
