At about 5 weeks or so, they could do a u/s and count the amount of saks. Usually around 7 to 8 weeks you will have a heartbeat.

When i was 4 weeks pregnant my doctor did an ultrasound and seen only one baby. After my husband and I was leaving the hospital we got into a head on collision and i was rushed back to the hospital. The next day they did another ultrasound and seen that there was 2 babies there. So I found out REALLY early 4 weeks 1 day. I had 3 MC before my twins so that's why they did an ultrasound so early and plus my blood work was "off the charts" my doc had a feeling that I was having twins before we even knew because my hcg count was so high. Hope this helps Good Luck

Depends on the level of the pregnancy hormone beta HCG, this is what home pregnancy tests look for but is much more accurate in a blood test. The level has to be above about 1500 to see anything on an ultrasound, this level is reached around 5 - 6 weeks. You could clearly see my twins - hearts beating and everything at 7 weeks.

my friends twins were discovered about 8 weeks. when they do the first ultrasound they should be able to detect a beating heart. on the other hand i also had a friend give birth to fraternal twins and only thought she was having one. they were also 7 pounds each when they were born.

5 to 6 weeks along. My aunt was able to see her triplets at exactly 5 weeks on the ultrasound. Many OBs now do a first visit ultrasound to determin fetal aging as well as progression & to see if there are possibly multiples.

They can pick up more than one heart beat quite early 8- 10 weeks by ultrasound. By actaully seeing twins skull and spinal columns, the earliest is usually 16 weeks and again this is by sonogram.

If it's a transvaginal ultrasound (one done inside) Then you could possibly see 2 sacks as early at 7 or 8 weeks.
