I'm thinking a controversial one which includes a sexist or racist tone, although (sadly) I reckon a football one would get more response. Discuss.

No, not at all. What you fail to realize is that the biggest demographic on this site is teenagers. To get the most responses, you would have to use "singles and dating" and ask any question that contains the following words....
"crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, love, hate, cheating, or sex".
If possible, have the question contain ALL those words.
Try it and see.

unfortunately, any kind of question will get a response (for the points) but a controversial one is guaranteed to get a response from the morally outraged. A football one, I'm not so sure, it would depend on whether there was a match on when the question was asked. Personally I think the general public will answer anything whether they know the answer or not,as has happened to me in the past. Sometimes people will answer just to say they don't know the answer. mmmmm

How about who are you in actuality? (beyond this body, mind and intelligence) Why are we in this material world if it is not our real home? Do all the souls come to the material world or only the less intelligent ones? What is the purpose of human life? What is the Absolute Truth. But the thing is one should ask a qualified person who has seen the Absolute Truth these kind of questions. go to krishnaculture. for the answer to these questions and more. and Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupad this will answer all important questions of life.

I think we are all seasoned hard-hearts on this site, these days there isn`t a great deal that gets a rise out of us. I mean, we all agree that football is a very silly game, and it is fine if a 20year old man wants to marry a 50year old lady. What the heck, who cares what Bush and Blair are buying each other for Christmas?

an emotive question seems to get the most responses. I have read a few today such as "what age should a child get their ears peirced" and "my 14 year old wants a tattoo" that had a very high number of responses. it also depends what catagory you put them in. also interlectual ones dont seem to do so well as people cant be bothered to answer them.

p.s thanx for answering my children in hospital question.

I saw one a couple of days ago from a 50-something chap who wanted to know if he was too old to go to a concert - he had over 80 responses. I haven't been here long enough to know if that is quite a high number but it seems much higher than the average.

Nope I think your first idea would get the most. Most people will go on emotion. So if you hit the emotion that will set these people off I feel you will get the most responders. I could be wrong but I do not think I am.....
Go into the animal category, see what is going on there. These people some of them do not think, just react....
