They all play 16 games. The season is 17 weeks long. Every team has a week off, called a "bye week". The bye weeks come between weeks 3 and 10. The league wants all teams playing the first couple of weeks, so they start with a bang, and they have big weekends. They want everyone playing week 11 - 17 because that's when teams really start chasing the playoffs, and they want everyone playing so it's more robust.

THEY PLAY 16 GAMES IN 17 WEEKS. ALL TEAMS GET ONE WEEK WHERE THEY DON'T PLAY A GAME.

nobody plays 17 games except those eliminated in the first round of the playoffs o the second round if they received a bye for th first round of the playoffs
