Because women are supposed to be more dignified or "lady like" than men are and men are notorious for farting. I personally think that farts are just about the funniest thing on the planet. Everyone and everything with a digestive system farts and anyone that claims they don't is a liar.

Everyone expects men to fart but not women. In a mixed group, if someone farts, everyone right away assumes it's a guy who did it. This could have advantages for a woman who wants to fart. No one will ever suspect that she did it. I much prefer a woman to be open and fart freely when she needs to. I would never laugh, unless it was for some fun teasing.

It's a social stereotype and a double standard. It's expected that men will fart and express baser things such as bodily functions publicly. But, it's expected that women are held to a higher standard of 'purity' and 'wholesomeness'.
Regardless, I've known lots of women who cursed like sailors, farted like plumbers, and could smoke and drink with the best of them.

Because, how often do you hear a woman fart? Not very often. Women view farting as disgusting and vile while men view their farting as a competitive venture with other males, something to be proud of.

My friends and I fart around eachother and find it hilarious.
Farting as immature as it is, will always be funny.

guess cause you just don't here those little girlie girls do that much been taught to be prim and proper.and some if they do are SO ooooo embarrassed ha ha I THINK EVEN MOST MEN WOULD BE EMBARRASSED TOO .same as burping its not polite.yeah every body does it but your supposed to try and wait when your alone in the bath room ,I CAN;T BELIEVE I;m answering this I'm getting sooooo embarrassed ha ha ha!

Because men are proud of their gas and let them fling. Girls like to hide them for the most part so when someone finally hears one it is funny because girls get embarrassed.
