I can understand why someone would think that it is...But it's definitely not.
I think the trick besides mixing genres would be to pick a genre and bend the rules/push the boundaries of what is acceptable...If this is done enough, a new style is created and when that style is known enough that it can be identified without reference to the original genre that it was born from, a new genre has been born.

It's never to late, but the trick is getting a new genre to catch on.
A new genre will be, most likely, be a mixture of previous genres, say
Country-Rap (yikes!), or New Age-Disco (yuk!), or grunge-Jazz. You get the idea.

Too late? For who? I'm serious - I don't understand the question. If you mean you don't like today's 'music', which isn't, then get some CDs or whatever from the era when music was music. It should soothe and relax you, not get you all het up or angry.
