If I begin tournament with $1,500 chips, or $2,000 in chips, or whatever the case may be, what are standard re-buy amounts?

I'm sorry if question is unclear. Tourney will be $20 buy in, everyone gets 2,000 in chips. Everyone is allowed 2 rebuys, no rebuys after 90 minutes. My question is, should people get the same amount of chips in rebuy, or only half or what? and do they have to pay another $20, could they pay $10 when rebuying?

The standard that I've seen in the casinos that I've worked at is actually unlimited rebuys in the first round, or first two rounds, but however you want to do it is fine with that. But anyways, the standard that I see is the amount paid for the rebuy is the same as the buyin (without the entry fee, as in if it was a $20+5 tourney, it'd just be $20), and you'd get the same amount of chips that were initiall given.

One other way I saw it was half of the buy in and 75% of the chips ($20 buyin for 2000 chips, $10 rebuy for 1500 chips)

Both ways work really. Just a matter of preference. If I was running a tournament and had to allow rebuys, I'd allow unlimited in the 1st and 2nd round for the same amount as the buyin and give the same amount of chips as was originally received.

As long as everything is the same it is all relative. You could do unlimited rebuys for the first hour, or set a max. Everything is up to you.

I would do it one of 2 ways.
Make rebuys 1/2 chips 1/2 buy in or same same.
Example
$20 buy in start with 2,000 chips (1/2 rebuy $10 1/2 chips 1,000)
or ($20 rebuy 2,000 chips)
Keep it exciting, make it unlimited rebuy for first hour, but they have to be under the original buyin to rebuy.
Have 1 addon for $10 or $20 bucks and give them 2-4k in chips at the end of the rebuy period.

If you are setting up the tournament then it is up to you. But I would suggest the following rules for a $20 tournament:

Each rebuy is $20.
Limit of 3 rebuys.
Rebuys end at after the 3-4 blind levels.
You may only rebuy if you have less than the your starting stack i.e. 2000 chips or at the end of the rebuy period you can buy one add-on of 2000 chips regardless of how many chips you have.

It all depends on the tournament in question, each one is different. Just call the poker room and ask how much you get for your re-buy. For example at Sahara they have a 40 dollar buy-in and you get 3000 chips and for 20 bucks more you get another 2000. And at Caesars you get 2000 and you get 3500 dollar re-buy so it is different everywhere you go. Some tournaments even let you have un-limited re-buys so call the room and good luck.

What do you mean? how much should the rebuy?, or how re-buy should you play?
Sorry I don't understand your questions?

Although I have never participated in Poker Tournaments, I would say that the standard re-buy amount is always optional. Also, the re-buy amount varies on how much your buy-in amount is.
