The "happy" holiday season is not that way for everyone. If it is not a happy time please say why. It makes me sad

Good Answers Rock and Pandora. I do not have a sig other, my father killed himself 2 days after christmas one year. I have the comercialism. I agree that poor people need help all year. They do not just eat at thanksgiving and christmas. They need food and things all year.
Some of us are spending christmas alone.

I've always loved Christmas until last year. My mentally challenged brother died 2 weeks before Christmas, our Mom died 23 years ago so I always tried to make Christmas special for him. I think last year I was still kind of "shell shocked". This year I'm going thru the motions but don't really care. My kids are adults, no grandkids, so really it's kind of a "what's the point" attitude. My brother would be all excited, giving me his list, asking what I was cooking and could he help--I miss my side kick! Even tho I have my hubby and kids, it's not the same. I hope as time passes it will get better.

Because the focus is now commercial, instead of just a celebration. There was a time when a dinner with the family was enough, but now we are in different times. Many people have lost focus on what the holidays are supposed to be about. And some people are just plain miserable.

Beacuse it is commerical. The only time we 'care' about homeless orphans is when? Christmas time, right? No one gives a d amn about them around the 4th of July, or Arbor day! People go crazy, children DEMAND gifts, and everyone goes into debt because they feel obligated to buy gifts..... thats why its not joyus to me. Christmas is now just another Day where I get to eat turkley and bake another cake.

cause i don't have a significant one to share it with...which is sad..
makes my heart ache when i see a couple sharing christmas or counting down....
just not so happy for me at those times...
