Sociologically, people tend to have a very negative perspective towards transexualism.

This is because:
1. Transexuals don't 'fit' into our expected 'norms and values' - our schema dicates that people are born male or female and we must keep a line between the two
2. We are physchologically aware of what makes a person female and male simply by what they look like (eg: females tend to have a more circular hairline). When these boundries are broken, we become fearful because it's 'not right'

I hope this helps,

I don't know what you mean by "people perspective". However... a transgender (the preferred word these days for transsexual) is basically a person who has a male brain and a female body, or vice-versa. For a good accessible read on the difference between male and female brain types, read Barbara and Allan Pease "Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps".

It's difficult to be a transgender, firstly because usually people feel very much unhappy in the body they have until they decide to transition; secondly because the transition is tough in society because society lies to exaggerate the differences between men and women so when you e.g. look like a man with boobs or sound like a man but look like a woman people give you odd looks at best, discrimination, or at worst serious abuse; and thirdly because friends, relatives and loved ones often find your change hard to accept. There is also the social prejudice against gays in some societies to overcome if you start off as heterosexual, because the gender change doesn't change your sexual orientation, so if a person is for example a male-to-female transgender they become a lesbian.

It's a tough road, but I believe most transgenders who've had the op say they're glad they went through with it.

A person can change the externals of their body, but the heart of that person will remain the same.

If a man has an operation that changes the external body parts to resemble a woman, and he has sex with a man, he is a homosexual.

If a woman has an operation that changes the external body parts to resemble a man, and she has sex with a woman, she is a lesbian.

If a penis makes a man or a vagina makes a woman, then our entire structure of society is a lie. At birth, a baby would be considerd a man or woman based solely upon their externals body parts.

If sex is our primary focus and how we can best please our fleshly desires, we are not human but are like the beast of the aninal kingdom. They eat, sleep, and have sex. Everything revolves for them around these basic three items.

Mankind was created to have dominion over all the earth. Therefore we are not of the same cognitive level as beast. We are superior. Sex should be reserved for the opposite gender, not for just the opposite sex parts. And then it should be reserved for marriage.

But that is another discussion all together :-)

Weird, yes, but I have no problem with it. It's their lives. If I see one walking down the street, I may laugh, but I won't say it's a sin or anything. They're pretty funny people.

My perspective: weird, very weird issue. Can you imagine, now I could meet a guy who before the operation was a girl, and me thinking that it's a boy, oh-my-God, now we cant be sure of anything!!!!

What ever floats that persons boat. Who am I to dictate to another how to live?
If we dictate to others are we not acting like God himself.
My thoughts on this..
