Driving ability has nothing to do with a driver's fighting prowess.
counterpart means the same as a duplicate. Component means a part of something.so no they are not interchangeable.
You can't substitute counterpart for ability. Ability refers to the Driver Counterpart refers to someone else.

Neither "component" nor "counterpart" can substitute for the word "ability."

Try "skills." Also, I would not repeat driver's/driving.

I would suggest either:

A person's driving ability has nothing to do with his fighting skills.
A person's driving skills has nothing to do with his ability to fight.

No, counterpart refers to a person not ability. Try prowess.

Number one rule in writing states:
Clarity first.
Original sentence clearly states a thought.
Second sentence is clever, but foggy.
Don't be cute when you write.
Just say it !!!
