I was thinking of buying another Black Mamba, and a King Cobra (which I am really excited about) but the question is, do you think I should get these snakes, please only people who own or work with hots.

TO - JParker - Heres the answer to your earlier comments. I am Indian American, I did not buy the Inland Taipan, I captured it, I can e-mail you a pic of the black mamba and the inland taipan if you want, just leave your e-mail.

Unless you have a ton of experience working with hot herps, especially Kings, then no, don't get a King..... They are more trouble than they're worth, and unpredictable (you should already know that). I worked in a pet store down in Southern California, and the owner had a Falsewater and a Gabon. It depends on how much experience you have with hots as it is, I would go with a Mamba if forced to choose.. I just hope you have a lot of anti-venin in the house in case. By the way, I would love to see your Taipan pics...... They make me very nervous, but still, they're beauties....

As far as laypeople keeping hots goes- I think you should only keep hots if you have a good reason. Most keep them out of sheer pride or ego- terrible reasons to keep dangerous animals of any style.

The question I always ask is "is your reason to keep these animals good enough that the mother of a child killed by one of your snakes would understand and forgive you?"

Yeah, I know- yours are perfectly safe, yada, yada, yada. That is what every person bitten by one of their snakes has said, or worse yet, after one of their snakes got free and bit someone else.
