I need to put a few bleach stains on a black shirt i have for a christmas gift i am making for a friend. I tested it out and the spot turned brown, but my goal is to get a white spot in areas that i put the bleach. If i let the beach sit on the shirt will the spot eventually turn white?

depending on the actual dye of the fabric, I have seen black turn some lovely shades in the reddish family.
hgtv.com - carol duvall had it on her show I believe, or simply quilts.
They places the material around a PVC pipe, scrunched it, tied it down with rubber bands, gently poured the bleach along the rubber band area, then it went through a gentle wash and rinse - both final steps were done in a basin/sink

Try some clorox for your project and you can place it on part of shirt you want without washing it. The color should turn out white in spots like you want it. Using the bleach is a little too harsh.

You would have to get rid of the black dye first. If it really is 100% cotton, you could try a mixture of cold water and bleach, or, if in U.K. buy a sachet or two of a product called Dygon. They keep it with the dyes. You have to weigh the dress dry to find out how much you need.I f you manage to get at least some of the black out, you should be able to dye it dark green or red. Read all instructions carefully on packets etc. Good luck.

My black shirts usually turn pink when I get bleach on them. I don't know what cotton your using. Haha.

(Brown and Pink, they look the same on the shirt.)

If you let the bleach sit directly on the shirt for any length of time...it probably will deteriate the material...porbably make holes in it.

if you use clorox it will turn it white if you leave it on there for atleast a day before you wash it.
