The people who you think hate you are just jealous that they didn't get the part themselves, stop worrying about them. There must be a reason that your instructor chose you to take the lead in this musical, perhaps because of your talent? Be proud of yourself for this achievement, it's not easy to get. Congratulations on this, by the way, it's quite an accomplishment! As for the kiss, don't sweat it, it's in the script after all. If you make an awkward, uncomfortable deal about this with your friend, he'll feel uncomfortable about it too. That won't help out the musical, and that is what it's all about, after all, isn't it? If this is something you are interested in enough to continue with, through school, and perhaps beyond, then get over the kiss in the script, there will be many more different things to come.

No, it's not wrong. Like you said it's in the script, there's nothing you can do to change that. The best thing you can do is not worry about what others are saying about the role and have fun with it. They're probably just jelous that you got the lead. If this guy you have to kiss gets encouraged and you're not interested in him, just let him know the only reason you're doing it is because it's in the script and you'd rather just be friends.

You should be very proud that you were chosen for the role. Others that may be jealous will move on because it sounds like you aren't the kind of person to wave your success in any one's face. As far as kissing a junior it's cool but be up front with him and tell him something like "Hey we have to do this scene for the play let's keep it in the play and eventually if things work out we can explore things after the play" I'm sorry if that sounds lame but you get the idea, above all be honest with him You deserve that. Good luck.

Sorry, but that's what acting is. Going out with your friends and/or kissing them because of the script is part of the deal. If you're talented enough to get the lead, you shouldn't care about whats in the script, just that you enjoy what you're doing.

It's called "Acting" for a very specific reason. If it offends your moral sensibilities you may want to decline the role,,,BUT, if you have any notion of acting, or interest in the project, but are more driven by others opinions, you also might better decline the part.

With no offense to your age, or hormonal stuff, or peer pressures, or feelings for your "friend" otherwise,,,GET over IT.

Good luck

simple stage kiss turn both of your heads away from the audience, if your hair is down let it fall in front of your face come with a inch of each others face get creative and work with each other tell him your uneasy about it and work some thing out together

(we had this problem last year with a strict Mormon girl she was scared to death of the part and almost quit the show never been kissed either but we got threw it with stage kissing)

Its why they call it ACTING not For Real. Just take the part and run with it. Enjoy yourself and understand that the others are jealous. Remember when you are a senior a freshman might get a part and you may have to kiss him, It means NOTHING , just a part.

Be glad that you got the part! You're lucky to be a freshman and get a lead! This year we're doing HSM too and all the leads went to seniors!!! That really ticks me off...I CAN DO BETTER THAN MOST OF THEM!!! yeesh.

The worst part is having my sister as Taylor....one of the roles I wanted. She won't shut up about it!

it's not wrong. if you just keep it by the play, then that is fine. you can just tell anybody that it's in the play and you wanted to be in there because you love to act. it's more than likely that they are jealous about it and if you assure them that the kiss isn't the reason why you tried out, they will feel much better about the whole thing.

imagine about the difficulty this kind. once you grow old, in case you've been to married you'll basically be about 2 years aside. 2 years is amazingly little once you're round 30. it ought to seem somewhat iffy now, yet you may not remorseful about it later.
