I started when I was 20. I will graduate in May with my bachelors degree at age 24.
You can catch up if you feel that you need to. Most freshmen start at age 18 but they only go fall/winter semesters. If you also go spring/summer semesters then you will have caught up to them in 2 years. So you could still graduate at the same time as other students that you graduated high school with.
Either way 20 is NOT too old. If anything you have an advantage. You are more mature and you have had some time off to relax after graduating high school.
There was a 70 year old woman that graduated with her grandson last year at my college.

Ha ha. This question made me laugh. 20 is NOT LATE AT ALL! I think age 25 would be kind of late. I know a bunch of 20 year olds in college. All the 18 to 25 year olds get along fine. There is no stigma in that age group.

I've never heard of that stigma. You are never too late to start college or any other education.
When you get there, you will find that you are by far NOT the oldest in the class. You will also have the benefit of some life experience.
I went to grad school when I was 29 or 30. I was pleasantly surprised to see people twice my age in my engineering program.
In undergrad, there were people who spanned almost every age group.
Best of luck in school! I know you'll be a success!!!!!

Good Lord no! It's never too late to get an education. I'm 43 and about midway through a bachelor's degree. There is no stigma against people who don't go to college right after high school. TONS of people wait. Don't let it stop you. Go for it!!
Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

I started college at 24. In 2 months I will be 27 and I'm still JUST under the halfway point towards my bachelor's degree. I didn't get my associate's because the college I'm applying doesn't require as many core classes as my community college does for an associate's so I skipped the associate's degree. It's never too late to learn something. We all should STRIVE to learn something new in our lives everyday.
Socrates once said something along the lines of "an unexamined life is a life not worth living". It's true. If you're not learning and growing in life, what kind of life do you really have?
Best of luck to you, and if you haven't done so, fill out a FAFSA, it can help get you free money for school.

Starting college at any age is never too late. In fact, we've had some 80-something students attending a regular community college. Some adults do it for continuing education, others do it for major transitions. Going to college is a committment and interest of the individual desiring to learn and utilize their skills in the real world.

It's never ever too late.
Seriously, people do take time off studies and resume them later for a variety of reasons. I think most employers would be understanding. As for fellow students, if they attach a stigma to it, then I say they're not worth caring about. Plus, it will pass in a few years whereas the benefits of your college education will last you a lifetime. :)

Oh my gosh! No, it's not too late. In fact, you'll be at a big advantage because you've had a year or two to mature. You'll be able to focus better and be closer to choosing a major. It's NEVER too late to go to college!
Contact your college of choice and find out how to file a FAFSA before March 1, 2007. That might help you pay for it.
Good luck!

It is never too late to get educated. Actually, education is a continuing process. Going to college is just a formality. It really doesn't matter what your age is if you really want to study. However, if your motive is simply to be the most popular guy in college and attract young ladies, well, give it up. Give the younger generation a chance to explore their age bracket.
