Nail polish remover will not hurt the finish if you don't overdo. Use a little at a time over a couple of days and that should do it. Also, alcohol will sometimes work. The ordinary rubbing kind. Make sure it's at least a 90% solution.

when the sticky residue or whatever you want to call it is there after taking the sticker off, i just use part of the sticker and press it against the cd case where the sticky stuff is using my thumb. then i rip it off really quickly (its good to rip the sticker off at an angle, too) and the sticky stuff comes off the case. it works very well, atleast when i do it.

Try rubbing alcohol. They usually take the sticky stuff off without harming the jewel case.
