Yes, you can have a miscarriage at 5 weeks. Most women don't even know they are pregnant at this time and mistake the symptoms as a period. If you are sure you are pregnant and pretty sure you have miscarried you might want to see a doctor. A DNC could be in order to remove any extra tissue and such.

Yes that is exactly what happened to me. I was 5 weeks pregnant (but did not know it) and i had-had my period for that month but then 4 days later i started bleeding again but dismissed it as a second period even though that never happens to me. So many people had that beat into my head.
Well it started out as brown blood then red then light red. I hurt so badly in my stomach & back and also i was tired.
I finally went to the er cause i just knew something was wrong. The doctor came in and said your pregnant but we need to do an ultrasound because of your hcg levels. They done an u/s and sure enough i had done miscarried. So on that day i found out i was pregnant and miscarried. It was a huge shock to me.
They put me in the hospital to watch me overnight and keep checking my hcg levels until they were way down. The next day when i got out i was not hurting so if i hadn't of gone to the er i would have never even known i was pregnant let alone miscarried.

What really bothered me is me not knowing i was pregnant cause i have been pregnant once before (My son is 5).
But everything happens for a reason. If i hadn't of miscarried i would have a 10 month old baby right now.
So if you are going through all of this go to the er right away.
Good luck and Take care

I would go to the ER. I had a miscarriage at 4 months. I had to have a DNC. There was an abnormal chromosome in the fetus when they tested it. The body rejects the fetus when the chromosomes don't match up. So yes it is possible. If anything passes they may want to do a test to rule out the cause of the miscarriage. I am very sorry for you. Everything happens for a reason.

The warning sign of vaginal bleeding precedes nearly all miscarriages. Bleeding that signals a miscarriage may be little or heavy. It may be constant, or it may come and go. Bleeding may be followed by cramping abdominal pain and, in some women, lower backache. Although there may be other reasons for these symptoms, you should contact your doctor if any type of bleeding or severe pain occur.

Sorry-that is definantly a sign of miscarriage-I know from personal experience.I also was 5 weeks pregnant when I lost my baby.I had the brown tissue discharge, back pain, cramping, tons of bleeding. You probably did have one and really really need to go see your OB soon to make sure all the tissue is out.Infection can happen if it is not totally cleared out.

It is possible, but a miscarriage at this point of time is considered a "late miscarriage". At five months its a small chance of you having a miscarriage. You should really see a doctor promptly though and see what is going on with you because this isn't normal at all.

Hi,

I am sorry to say this, but yes, a miscarriage is possible. Actually Spontaneous abortion, or miscarriage, is the loss of a fetus before 20 weeks.

if you think you have miscarried, you need to see your doctor. Immediate treatment sometimes involves surgery to remove pregnancy tissue.

Best of luck to you!!

yes, you can have a miscarriage at any time during your pregnancy. Call your doctor!!! Especially if you are positive you are pregnant. If you're not positive, then it may just be a period beginning. (if i'm irregular for any reason, stress, hormones, i do the same thing....) Either way, call your doctor asap!!!

good luck, and take care of yourself!!

About 6 days before I miscarried (9 1/2 wks) I spotted brownish/pinkish/red blood.......Cramps like crazy ! Once it starts you wont be able to walk..... I broke out in a sweat, and almost fainted in walmart trying to get my pain pills... The pharmacy gave me one on the spot ! They made me sit down for 20m, and I crawled to my car ! CRYING BAD ! Worse pain Ive EVER felt ! AND Ive had 2 children...If that tells ya how bad it is........
