Why? WHY?!? Why do parents feel the need to throw the letter ‘n’ at the end of every baby name? It is so overused. I get that parents are trying to be creative, give their child a unique name, and get away from overused names. But don’t you see?! You all are doing the same thing! That’s not unique. Your kid is going to enter kindergarten one day, and the whole class will consist of Aidens, Jaydens, Kaydens, Braydens, Haydens, Madisons, Brooklins, Ashtons, Kaylins, Joceylns, etc…It’s gotten to the point where those names are as abrasive as nails on a chalkboard. Get away from it, people.

Ok, I'll admit it. My name own name ends in with an 'n' (Erin.) But my name, and the names Ethan and Logan really don't bother me. I guess it's the "Aidens" and the things that rhyme with "Aiden" that really annoy me.

Yeah, yeah I get it. I know people are not literally throwing the letter 'n' at the end of every name. My point is these names are lame, plain and simple.

By saying that parents are adding the letter "n" to the end of their baby's name, you make it sound as though these parents are starting with a standard, run-of-the-mill name (like Kate) and adding an "n" to the end to make it sound unique (Katen). Yet, when I read further into your question, you rattled off a bunch of names that ALWAYS end in "n" (such as "Ashton"). No one is ADDING an "n" to these names; that is simply how they are spelled. What are you suggesting...that someone wanting to name their child Aiden, should call him Aide instead? Or someone wanting to name their child "Madison" should just call her "Madiso"? I think what you were TRYING to say, is that many people today are choosing names that end in "n". They are not ADDING an "n" to those names. By the way, here are the top 10 baby names given in the United States in 2005. You will notice that only one boy name and one girl name ends in "n", so apparently, not everyone is doing as you say. At any rate, with all the things to care about in this word, why do you care what other people want to name their children?

It is just todays trend...don't get too upset over it because it will be gone in the next couple years.
I teach pre k so my kids are 4 and 5. This year all of my girls have similiar names...1 Kayla, 3 Hannah's, 2 Hailey's, 2 Kylie's, 1 Katie, 1 Chloe, 2 Lilly's, 1 Nataleigh...Obviously the "eigh" sound was very popular 4 years ago along with the "k" sound. Hannah was extremely popular too. In the 3 year old classroom they have 3 Emily's and an Emma.
The "n" sound is really popular now though because in the nursery there is Aidan, Evan, and Lillian.
The one year old room is the exception though...she has some unpopular names now...
Brenna, Thomas, Connor, 2 Christopher's, Carter, Jasmine, Liberty, Danielle, Kylee, Oscar, and Scott.

Those names all have 'n's on the end already - they are not being *added*. These names are not being made up, but in general have all existed for a long time. As for overall popularity, of the top 10 girls names only two have 'n's on the end, and for boys, 4 have them. I wouldn't say it's overused at all. Now if you started changing names to Emma'n' and Jacob'n' and Matthew'n' I'd say that there was a problem.

My daughter's name ends with an R. I know what you mean. A lot of these new names are overused. Not to mention, a lot of them sound pretentious.
