Any suggestions. Our tree is releasing sap badly, and it's getting on the wrapping paper. Also, many dead bugs are falling out.

Ewwww! This is why I go with an artificial tree!

As good an idea it is to get that tree on the street corner, I'm guessing you won't do it again...
But on a serious note, get a new tree and chuck the current one. It was probably carrying at least one egg sac when you baught it, and this is where the spiders are coming from. Need I explain the dead bugs?

It prolly wasn't the place you baught it, and you couldn't have done anything to prevent what you got. What Forest said so many years ago holds true still today:
"Sh*t happens :)"

Get that tree out immediately. Those bugs can stay in your house on pets clothing etc..I now it may not be the best time but you do no want to deal with the leftovers. Trees loose their sap due to the fact they are drying out. The dry heat in your home is letting it know it is time to die. The bugs came in with the tree.
We have an artificial tree and we hang those car deodorizers in it to make it smell piney.

Icky. Spray with pesticide and rearrange your packages away from sap drip zones. Fill some plastic trash bags lightly with newspaper and stuff them under the tree skirt in an attractive way to fluff up and fill out the empty area directly beneath the tree. P.S. Unplug anything eletrical before spraying the tree with bug stuff.

This is one reason I don't use a real tree. I've used my fake fiber optic tree and get plenty of compliments on it year after year. I would get rid of that tree ASAP you're going to have bug eggs etc... if you don't.

Get a fake tree, it's the only way to be sure.
