If these people are so hateful towards those that work towards peace today, wouldn't they absolutely despise the Prince of Peace in ancient days?

The far right conservatives would hate Jesus and his teachings. He stands for everything they oppose.

Not unless they are Jewish, As a young Marine I went to war in a place called Viet Nam, I learned that war is the mixture of hell and confusion, I am not a Christian, and do not see the relevence. While I think war is the end of all reason, I also believe there isa time to make war, and a time to make peace. I did not think we should of gone to war in Iraq, but would have favored going to war with Saudi Arabia, or throwing everything we had into chsing down and destroying Bin Ladden.

NO.

Jesus was a Jew. In Jesus time the Jews lived under the thumb of Roman rule. Jesus was being called the King of the Jews, the son of God. He was teaching ideas that Rome might not agree with. The Jews feared that Jesus would anger Rome causing it to turn its eyes upon them and that Rome would take its anger out on the Jews.

The Jews did not hate Jesus or his peaceful teachings. The Jews, with good reason, hated and feared Rome. IN the time of Jesus those who called for his death were trying to save their nation.

You can't really draw a good comparison between the peace activist of today and the peace activists of ancient times. The peace Jesus was teaching did not call for stopping the war with Rome or making peace with Rome. Jesus was not calling for the Jews to bow down to Roman rule or to make peace with Rome. The Jews were not war mongers lashing out against pacifists, they were a conquered people trying to live in peace under the rule of their conquerors. Jesus actually threatened the peace with Rome.

There are those who truly long for peace at their soul's core, then there are those who don't want to have to do their part in insuring peace by removing tyrants, or don't want to chip in their fair share or are just afraid. I think the former group is far outnumbered by the latter.

Get real. most of the peace organizations are only fronts for Marxists ideologies. Christ was no Marxist!

You couldn't possibly be more wrong... Remember... the "Prince of Peace" drove the money changers out of the temple with a whip. It would more likely be the peace activist that would call for the Crucifixion of Jesus.... that type are the most intolerant, vengeful and violent groups that I know of.

Actually, probably. Jesus hung out with the poor and oppressed, the workers who were fed up with the current regime. one of the guys he hang out with was a terrorist- and many supported the terrorist groups that were going after the government.

Jesus taught love, forgiveness and compassion. he (according to the bible) Died to forgive us, not to give us a way to wage wars in his name. Blessed are the peacemakers thing, the blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness- those weren't flukes. They were, whadda call it, his political and religious veiws.

Are you suggesting there are people in the world that don't want peace?

Must be nice to live in a world as simplistic as yours. Would you be the first to protest fighting Hitler in WWII?
