What would you like to change about call centres?

I would like to speak to English-speaking people. It is very obvious when the calls are routed to India and those answering the phone don't understand me. They understand English, but they don't understand certain common slang or culture, typical ways of doing business, or even referencing other company names- they just seem to follow a script. If anything deviates from the scripted reply, they really don't get it, but then they just go back to repeating their script. It's just so difficult when an American would get what I'm saying, but a non-American who isn't family with our way of doing business can't help.
Now, I have nothing against the people themselves, and I'm not saying they lack intelligence, I'm just tired of this recent practice of outsourcing calls to countries whose employees don't relate.

i hate the old "let me put you on hold for a moment" routine. then they leave for 15 min or longer. if it's gonna be that long tell me!!! don't just say a moment, say a few minutes but i love vonage everytime i call i go straight thru and never get put on hold
