From my experieces, I have had Boils on my breast, under my arms, under my chin and in my ear and yes they are very painful. I would wait until it came to a head and go to the emergency room. They would give me an injection of anethesia in the infectec area, and yes it will burn like hell but it is well worth it. Afterwards they would lance the boil, squeeze to make sure all is out, "Boy what a relief", and give me some type of antibiotics and follow-up with my private doctor in 7-10 days. Hope this information helps your mom.
Happy Holidays!

Try soaking in hot baths and use moist warm compresses! If that isn't possible then use the heating pad. The heat normally will draw the infection out and it should start feeling better. Maybe take some Advil or ibuprofen as it will help on the pain and swelling at the site if there is any. Good luck-hope she feels better!

With your mom being a diabetic I would ask her to go to the ER. I had one of those before. It was caused by a Staph infection. They had to give me antibiotics for it and lance it (cut it open). They see this all the time in the ER so she shouldn't be embarrassed to go. Her doctor will probably just send her there anyway if she waits until the 20th if he doesn't have anything in his office to numb it with. If its due to a Staph infection and it gets in her blood stream that's really a bad thing and even worse considering she is a diabetic.

Ouch! that must be miserable.

A warm cloth will help relieve some of the pain, as will tylenol or Aleve. Just tell her *not* to mess with it. That can make it worse.

That does sound like a systemic infection. If she gets any sicker, please take her to the emergency room.

As long as it's on the out side of the vagina, try vaporub. I thought this was weird but my friend had the same problem. She uses vaporub on all her boils so she tried it there and it worked. She also put a small bandaid on it so it doesn't rub against anything.

wet a pad with hot water, then sprinkle salt on the pad, and place it on the boil. The salt will bring it to a head and it will burst!!!! sounds crazy but it works!!!!!!!!!! P.S- it will sting a little so do it b4 bed and sleep with it on the boil.
